To fellow artist professionals...

I'm gonna be blunt once again.

Just because my art is a certain style doesn't mean you CAN'T critique it. You just don't want to, and that I know. Why's that? "Not my style."

...

HEEEEEELLLOOOOOOOO!?

WAKE UP! I'm trying to combine two different methods at once here, the least you can do if you're not a muscle fan like I am is to CRITIQUE THE COLORING AND SHADING!

And if it's the other way around, least you could do is critique my anatomy.

I'm not asking for much. If you don't like muscle stuff then at least look at my realistic attempts of coloring it. Tell me if the fur looks real or not, how I can improve upon it, how I can do better on my shading, etc etc. Stop hiding in the shadows please.

It's not like I'm trying to bite you, and especially do not criticize me for doing fan art of other folk's characters when I have asked them for EXPRESSIVE permission to do so.

(Exception: You don't have to do stuff like the Anita pic, I can understand if that's a huge turn off. But some of the other things I'd like you to actually start nailing down.)

So if you're in the northern hemisphere location, United States and around the middle flat-lands states, you'll know that it's been blizzarding with no end in sight since day before yesterday.

I hate it.

However I got 4 gigabytes of ram, so that at least lifts my spirit a little.

And it works great.

I won't say happy holidays because the snow is demotivating, yet I will say... Have a happy LEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOY... nnnnJEEEEEEENKIIIIIIIINS!

Apparently, [link] this picture was picked by my parents to be printed out on full poster-size to be used for a print-out, AND it was shown off at my 18 year old sister's presentation at high school. What it was about I don't know, but it appeared everyone liked it, even the cranky english teacher... =P

That's humbling. Happy holidays everyone!

You know, one thing I'd really like to see more of... is gryphons. I don't mean in my kind of style either, just more gryphons all around. The one thing I've seen far more common... is wolves and dragons. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against them, albiet I like dragons more than wolves... However, lions alone would be nice... *sigh*

Now this makes me sound slightly stereotypical (or a lot... if you must pin me to a wall with darts as sharp as needle-pointed diamonds) but wolves, by far, are the most overused in my opinion. Answer me this, wolf lovers: What's so special about them that touches your hearts, your desires, your dreams? To me, they are on the backburner by far... Never have made a wolf character, doubt I ever will.

I'm rather happy with how I allow my gryphon characters to be interchangeable with lions... I chose gryphons/lions/birds (or liger, such as Hyugo) for a few reasons:

Lions:
-Brutal strength, and sometimes size
-Cunning
-Natural leadership
-Nature-blooded kings

Birds:
-Extremely well-oriented in hunting
-Sharp eye vision
-Can take care of one's self
-Height is never really a problem

Gryphons:
-Extremely intelligent (nearly, or more intelligent, than humans)
-Excellent senses, counts towards all of them--sight, smell, taste, touch, sensitivity, etc.
-Wings. Their good for more than just flying you know...
-Highly customizable.

Here's the thing with my gryphons though, and I know a few will probably gripe that I'm not following the norm, but this is to show that I even nitpick on gryphons... but talons, on gryphons, and egg laying? Hell no. Absolutely NOT.

-How the hell does a lion with a bird's beak and wings lay EGGS of all things? It makes no damn sense whatsoever! It's disgusting to even think about it.

-Talons vs. paws... Talons to me are a waste of time and space. Sure they're useful for gripping on trees and such, but I prefer the BIG gryphons, the ones who are basically twice the size of an average lion. They can't fit in trees, only small gryphons can. Also, the ability to retract claws is highly necessary for bigger hybrids so that they don't tear them up on rocks or something. Plus, they don't risk hurting anyone when they don't mean to. Talons are rubbery-skinned ugly little things, where lion paws have the soft gentle fur that actually MATCH with the hybrid. Talons, to me, are useless. Their not needed unless one is a bird.

--------------------------------------------

Back on track, now that I've ranted about gryphons, I'll take the time to explain my thoughts on dragons and wolves.

Wolves are highly overused, overrated, and in general, probably the number one character choice for the anthropomorphic world. Wolves are fine, but the way people abuse them so much is one of the reasons why I've never liked them. Second off, when I was younger, I had to scare one away because it was attacking some of our horses' babies, and creating a hellish stir. Not to mention it tried to attack me too, but with a cattle prod... The story turns sides quite easily. Don't get me wrong, they are cute and I wouldn't mind having a husky puppy to raise one day... but it's just too common to see them having near-overused styles OVER and OVER again, and OH MY GOD... Well at least I don't have to gripe about them as much as I did with the gryphons.

*****RANT BEGINS HERE.*****

Dragons are cool. I don't mind them, it's just, same thing with the wolves... Overused, though not so badly. I prefer the more natural dragons on all fours, but with the same power-house modifier. Those who keep copying lugia-style need to officially drink some paint and retard themselves out of existance, or whatever the fuck it's called. I don't know what they usually do, and I don't fucking care. One thing that hasn't surprised me though is the fact that generally they are large within so-called existance of our mind's endless boundaries of imagination which... some parts of it I'd rather no go into because I'm not fashioned for it.

Anyway, because of dragons sizes, it's natural to see them as a more super-natural beast than other species... which makes them SO DAMN BORING, that any dragon I see these days, 9/10th's chance it's going to be uber-powerful and oh dear Lord... Their better off 1998 Godzilla style, instead of anthro form... Otherwise they look like massive idiots who clearly need to find a bigger planet, rather than stay on earth and make it their bitch. Naw... Earth belongs to us humans, because we created them in our minds. It's called reality. Don't try and match your own with someone elses, because if both your characters are considered the most powerful beings in the universe then I suggest you go and stand in front of the gates of heaven... Just to see how WRONG you are, and even so, Hell can make them it's bitches at any point in your deepest darkest nightmares...

Anyway, enough of the heaven/hell stuff. I prefer dragons that are more World of Warcraft-ish style, with the large four-legged ones fashioned into more of a 'Zilla style... with larger legs too. 'Nuff said about that.

If you really want to try and take a point on this, go ahead. I'd love to see a few other opinions that are constructive and not the "u dun like wolves U SUK FAG" crap. Please make sure you are above the age of 2 and aren't too busy chewing on your mother's nipples. Thanks.
